My friend and I have dubbed my opinion on getting asked out as The Angel Policy. Basically, if asked out by a friend, I think saying yes makes sense because:

1. Since you’re friends, you probably like each other (at least in a platonic way)
2. Going on one date isn’t going to tie you down into anything complicated, it’s just going out for a simple movie or something. 
3. They would probably really appreciate it
4. You basically get to hang out with a friend and get to know them better, which isn’t a bad thing at all.
5. You might end up liking them
6. If you don’t end up liking them, then at least they won’t go on never knowing if it might have worked out or not.
